‘World War Z’ Adds Wave-based Horde Mode Z

2 min read

New wave-based co-op mode brings one of the biggest challenges yet to the hit shooter

Saber Interactive, in partnership with Focus Home Interactive, has released the highly anticipated new Horde Mode Z update for World War Z, the best-selling, action-packed co-op shooter inspired by Paramount Pictures’ blockbuster film. Horde Mode Z throws waves of progressively challenging enemies at teams of up to four players, with increasingly bigger rewards for surviving. In between rounds, players can upgrade their firepower and defenses while scavenging for free pickups like heavy weapons and medkits.

In addition, today’s content update adds:

  • The Bomber: a special new zombie that drops an explosive when downed, which players will only have a few precious seconds to disarm.
  • New premium weapon skins, free for owners of the World War Z Season Pass, which bundles together all of the game’s first and second seasons of premium DLC.

Planned future updates including PvE crossplay support, premium character skin packs, and a new premium campaign episode are expected in the coming months.

Powered by Saber’s dynamic Swarm Engine™, World War Z challenges players with hundreds of fast-moving, bloodthirsty zombies at a time, able to move and strike as one collective herd, as well as break off as individual attackers. Choose from six distinct classes and an arsenal of deadly weapons, explosives, turrets and traps. Outlive the dead through intense four-player co-op campaign missions around the world, including New York, Jerusalem, Moscow and Tokyo, and battle both zombies and real human opponents in competitive, team-based Players vs. Players vs. Zombies (PvPvZ) multiplayer.

World War Z is out now digitally and at major retailers on PlayStation®4 and Xbox One, plus Windows PC via the Epic Games Store.
